Located just 8 kilometres south-east of Melbourne’s Central Business District, Malvern is one of Melbourne’s most desirable inner-east suburbs.

Malvern experienced rapid urbanisation during the early 1900s and has continued to be the subject of gentrification since.  From the 1920’s, the Malvern Council promoted the planning of street trees, and mandated that housing blocks must have a minimum of 6,000 sq ft frontages. Spacious Victorian-era villas began to quickly populate the area, creating a beautifully spacious setting. In 1995 Malvern became a part of the City of Stonnington.

The suburb offers a wonderful environment for families with many amenities on offer. Transportation is made easy, with a tram running along High Street that will easily take residents into Armadale and neighbouring areas.  

Some of the suburb’s shopping attractions are the recently enhanced Malvern Central shopping centre, which is home to high-end department store DavidJones and many other boutiques and retailers. Glenferrie Road, a main road stretching from Malvern into Kew, also houses a wide variety of restaurants, shops and boutiques.

Schools in the area include: De La Salle College, St Joseph’s Primary School, Malvern Primary and Malvern Central.

Malvern is well positioned with some of Melbourne’s most beautiful parks and reserves framing houses in the area. These include: Malvern Gardens, Kooyong Park Malvern, Malvern Cricket Ground and Milton Gray Reserve.

Significant heritage buildings listed on the Victorian Heritage Register include Stonnington Mansion (1890), Malvern tram depot, the former ES&A Bank (on the corner of Glenferrie Road and High Street) and the Malvern railway station.

The quiet suburb of Malvern provides an ideal environment for families to reside amongst a peaceful and spacious setting.
