The “new normal” put on hold by Stage 4 lockdown

At the time of writing, the total scope of restrictions facing the real estate industry is unclear.  We expect the Victorian Government and the REIV to have full details available by midnight Wednesday, August 5.  We will keep you fully informed as the details come to hand.

The movement to Stage 4 lockdown will pause market activity just as Victorians had learned to transact real estate safely and effectively in a Covid-19 world.  Significant operational changes have enabled us to list, market, inspect and sell large volumes of premium Melbourne property since the Covid-19 restrictions first came into existence on March 21.

Pent up demand and supply were evident in a market that traded beyond what would normally occur in mid-winter Melbourne.  Highlights for Kay & Burton in July 2020, compared to the same time last year include:

  • 93% more sales volume
  • 58% more listings
  • 10% more enquiries

These impressive numbers are a result of our experienced agents understanding how to navigate difficult market conditions, our focus on high quality service to our long-term client relationships, uncompromising attention to detail and quality and an investment in technology and digital marketing expertise.  All of these properties were displayed privately in person or remotely via Zoom (both locally and internationally), and many were sold through online private Zoom actions with many results considerably above market reserve.

While many businesses have decreased their digital marketing spend during the pandemic, Kay & Burton has continued to invest and encourage our clients to invest in our award winning* digital marketing packages.

Facebook recently announced that “the usage and growth from Covid-19 is unprecedented across the industry, and we are experiencing new records in usage almost every other day.”  Figures from the social media giant confirm that there has been a 70% increase in usage across Instagram, Facebook, and Facebook Messenger during the Covid-19 restrictions.

Kay & Burton is committed to operating in a manner that protects the health and safety of our team members, our clients, and the general community.  The advice we are giving clients today is plan for a fast bounce back to the market by engaging in webinar conversations with your agent now.
